Windsor's Caboto Club may avoid a work stoppage after all.
Unifor Local 240 President Jodi Nesbitt tells AM800 News, details won't be released until a vote, but a tentative deal was reached just an hour before a midnight deadline.
Caboto Club employs more than 100 workers as bartenders, servers, cooks, dishwashers and in maintenance and Nesbit says goals were reached on shift scheduling, seniority, wages and defining part time and full time workers.
"We're very happy to announce that we've reached a tentative agreement that we feel is fair and we think that our members are going to be quite happy with," she says.
Workers joined Unifor back in March.
"Nothing came easy, it was a lot of back and forth and obviously compromise on both sides," says Nesbitt, who says the first collective agreement is always the hardest to negotiate.
She says hammering out a deal was tough on both sides because the event space is, "more like a family, one of our committee women, she's been pretty much raised by the Caboto Club."
A date hasn't been set, but Nesbitt says a ratification vote will likely be held before the end of the week.
