The Windsor-Essex County Health Unit has announced 11 new cases of COVID-19 in the region.
Of the cases announced, five are in the agri-farm sector, four are in the community and two remain under investigation.
This area now has 2,379 confirmed cases since the pandemic began with 71 deaths and 2,135 cases listed as resolved.
During his daily briefing on Monday, Medical Officer of Health Dr. Wajid Ahmed shared his thoughts about the region moving to stage three of the province's recovery plan.
He says he's relieved but is hoping the region does not see an increase in cases with the move to stage three.
"It's just a reminder that the virus is not gone outside of this community," says Dr. Ahmed. "The virus still exist in our community, we have active cases in our community and the best way, the only way we can move forward is to make sure we are following all those measures."
Dr. Ahmed is reminding the public to continue to follow all safety measures that have been put in place.
"Physical distancing, face mask, face covering are the most important measures that we can do and most importantly if you are sick, staying home and limiting your number of close contacts to as low as possible," says Dr. Ahmed.
An outbreak protocol is currently in place at one long-term care or retirement home along with 11 workplaces.
