One man was taken to hospital in serious condition and another is in custody after an alleged assault on Windsor's west end.
Windsor Police Service was called to Brock Street near Bloomfield Road around 9:30 p.m. Saturday for a report of a person down. Officers arrived to find a man with serious injuries who was rushed to hospital where his wounds were upgraded to life threatening.
Investigators determined an argument led to a physical altercation between the victim and another man.
Muhammad Khan lives nearby. He didn't witness the assault, but he tells CTV Windsor he was their when the argument began.
"There was a quarrel going on and they were yelling at each other. I just sat down in my car and left. I noticed people were looking but I just left because I was right in the middle of their problem," he says.
Khan had no idea things would escalate the way they did, but still regrets not intervening.
"It just happened so fast and ... I wish I would have paid more attention while it was happening, but again, I didn't want to be part of that whole thing too," says Khan, who returned home to find the street taped off by police.
He recently returned from living in Alberta, and tells CTV Windsor things have really changed in west Windsor.
"This whole area has turned into a different place compared to eight years ago ... that I used to know," he added.
According to police, the victim and the accused are known to each other. Police say the attacker fled the scene, but was later identified and arrested without incident in the 400 block of Vera Place.
Major crimes continues to investigate and would like to speak with anyone who may have witnessed the incident.
Twenty-three-year-old Kuoc Keror from Windsor is charged with aggravated assault.
A person with the same name was at the centre of a shots fired investigation in April of 2018 near Giles Boulevard and Dougall Avenue that resulted in multiple fire arms charges.
Windsor police have not confirmed if he is the same man involved in the assault.
