Unifor Local 444 President James Stewart says they've been dealing with the monetary issues since late Thursday night. "We bargained right through the weekend. We did a pass at 2 o'clock this morning, we signed some of our language. We did another pass around 7am.
Stewart says they bargained right through the weekend and signed off on some of the language issues early this morning. "We still have a lot of ground to cover in terms of some of the important financials that our members expectations are at and where we think we need to be prior to the deadline tonight. We have a long way to go still."
Stewart says if a deal is not reached by midnight, the workers will go out on strike but expects negotiations will go right to the very end and beyond. "We'll talk as long as we can. Hopefully we get a deal before then but we have a long way to go."
Last month, workers voted 98.3% in favour of strike action if needed to back contract demands.
