An Essex daycare centre that was destroyed by fire on the weekend is getting ready to re-open.
The Story Book Early Learning Centre is moving into the former Sun Parlour Elementary School on County Rd. 8 and hopes to begin programming January 23rd.
Director Donna Hedrick says "there is a lot of work to do at the new site. Right now with confirmation of that we are definitely moving forward and our checklist is huge, but we're really starting from ground zero and moving up, so we need everything from furniture and chairs and cots and cribs and you name it, we need it."
"We're really busy making contact with all of our families so that we can do a re-registration," says Hedrick. "They were registered before but we're working just immensely on updating all that information and getting them back on board."
An account has been created with the Royal Bank and is accepting cash donations to help pay for expenses.
After January 14th, the non-profit organization is also accepting donations of toys, furniture and books for children under the age of four. Items can be dropped off at the Sun Parlor School.
Parents whose children were enrolled at the Arthur Avenue location and would like to send them to the new site are asked to call 519-776-7772 or email at storybookjaf@on.aibn.com
