One person is dead after a car collided with VIA Rail train Sunday afternoon in Chatham-Kent.
Shortly after 2:30pm, emergency crews responded to a motor vehicle crash involving a Via Rail Train on Keil Dr. near Park Ave. W.
Chatham-Kent police report that the preliminary investigation has revealed that a woman travelling southbound on Keil Dr., crossed the railway tracks and was struck by an eastbound train.
A 54-year-old Chatham woman was rushed to the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance where she died of her injuries.
The name of the victim will not be released out of respect for her family according to a police statement.
