Hydro One has stepped in to help the residents of Pelee Island.
Officials with the utility say an emergency generator was recently installed for situations like this when power is cut to the island.
That generator has been powered up while Hydro One continues to look for the cause of the outage.
Pelee Island Mayor Ray Durocher says residents are still being asked to use as little power as possible in the meantime.
"They have asked people not to do anything extra like make sure the lights are off and conserve as much electricity as we can, to maintain what we have. As far as timelines, I have no idea."
Durocher says he's waiting to find out how long the outage will last.
"It'll be up to me to declare an emergency and as of right now, it's a concern, not an emergency."
The outage was first reported during Sunday's powerful wind storm, but Hydro One has not been able to find the source of the problem or make repairs.
There are about 100 residents who live on the island during the winter months.
