The local health unit has announced three new cases of COVID-19 for Windsor-Essex.
Two of the confirmed cases are workers in the agri-farm sector while one is considered community spread. This comes a day after the health unit issued an order to a local farm due to a high number of positive cases of COVID-19 among workers.
As heard on AM800 news, the order requires the farm operator to isolate workers and prohibits them from working until further notice.
Health Unit CEO Theresa Marentette can't say if the farm has been shut down.
"I can't actually answer whether the farm is shut down, the order is specifically to putting workers in isolation so the workers, the positive and negative workers and close contacts of positive cases are not working, they're in isolation. So they're not able to work," says Marentette.
She says the farm also can't hire contract workers while the order is in place.
"The order also stipulates that they cannot hire contract workers to attend to the farm right now," adding isolation accommodations are currently being addressed.
"We're working on that with the farm and the Ministry of Health right now, working on isolation accommodations and making sure that everything is in place to isolate appropriately and allow the health unit to follow up with everyone," says Marentette.
As of Wednesday, there were 191 confirmed cases of the virus found at the farm.
Medical Officer of Health Dr. Wajid Ahmed did not take part in Thursday's daily briefing due to personal reasons.
