A GoFundMe page has been created to help a Windsor man after his greyhound was attacked by another dog over the weekend.
Joe McParland was walking his 10-year-old greyhound Vici and her 5-year-old sister Tessie on Ouellette Ave. near Ellis St. Friday night when she was mauled by what looked like a mixed-breed pitbull.
Vici underwent surgery Friday night and is expected to make a full recovery but McParland is footing a bill that now hovers around $2,500.
That total could climb so friends created the page with a goal of $3,500 to cover follow up care for Vici.
McParland updated AM800 News Sunday afternoon, saying Vici will have to stay with the vet for a few more days. Her status isn't life threatening at this point, but she's still, "in pretty rough shape."
McParland tells AM800 News he likely won't recover money from the attacking dog's owner because he's believed to be homeless.
So far more than $4,000 has been donated.
Any additional money raised will be given to help another dog who was also attacked by the same animal earlier that day.
