Strong winds have prompted the Essex Region Conservation Authority to issue a revised flood warning.
Gusts could reach to 50km, so flooding may occur on the east shoreline of Leamington and on Pelee Island.
Areas of Kingsville, Essex and Amherstburg are now included.
Director of Watershed Management Services Tim Byrne says this is happening more and more often.
"We are hitting critical levels more commonly with elevated lake levels, elevated lake levels also affect what we do for advisories and how we respond," says Byrne.
Elevated water levels in the western basin of Lake Erie and the Detroit RIver have created the possibility of nearshore erosion, breakwall damage and wave overtopping with spray.
The warning now expires on Saturday at noon.
