Fiat Chrysler Canada has now confirmed the Windsor Assembly Plant will be idled for one week starting February 11.
Chrysler spokesperson Lou Ann Gosselin has confirmed the shutdown saying the automaker is pulling ahead a week of downtime scheduled for April but there is no indication why.
Gosselin adds production will resume the week of February 18.
In the tweet to members sent out Tuesday, the union asked the plant's roughly 6,000 employees to "take instruction from your supervisor on your status for the week."
Plant workers had an extra week of downtime during the winter holidays as well.
The Windsor Assembly Plant has just announced that it will be not running the week of February 11. Please take instruction from your supervisor on your status for the week. The union will be releasing a leaflet on pertinent information related to those on lay-off.
