The Town of Essex is the latest to cancel programming because of COVID-19.
According to a release, all upcoming public skates and swims are cancelled until further notice. The cancellation impacts general admission skates and swims at the Essex Centre Sports Complex, Essex Recreation Complex, and the Harrow and Colchester South Community Centre.
The Town has also implemented supplemental cleaning procedures and added new hand sanitizing stations at all local facilities.
March Break and other non-drop-in programs will continue to run as scheduled. The Town has postponed all non-legislated meetings of local committees and boards for 30 days. The Monday, March 16 Regular Meeting of Council will proceed as scheduled.
Town administration will continue to monitor the situation with information from the Windsor Essex County Health Unit, as well as the federal and provincial ministries of health.
The Town is also in regular communication with neighbouring municipalities and the County of Essex to share information on impacts to the region.
Members of the Town’s senior management team will continue to meet daily to identify and address issues as they arise.
