If you'd rather wait in your car than stand outside in a line, COVID-19 drive-thru testing gets underway in Windsor today (Friday).
Speaking at the daily Windsor-Essex County Health Unit update, Chief Nursing Officer, Theresa Marentette says, today's testing runs from until 5 p.m.
“This will be offered at the Silver City parking lot on Walker Road. Testing will also be done Saturday and Sunday at the same site from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.,” she says.
Anyone 12 years of age or older can be tested and Marentette says there is information you need to have with you.
"People need to bring their health card number, provide their first and last name, date of birth and address."
Marentette says the test is through the nose.
“The test is a nasopharyngeal swab that goes into the nostril, it is done quickly and may be slightly uncomfortable,” she says.
The health unit reported a total of 950 cases of COVID-19 on Friday, an increase of 23 positive results in the past 24 hours. 63 deaths have occurred in the community with 495 cases resolved.
16,734 tests have been done with 1,066 results pending.
