The Windsor-Essex County Health Unit is reporting 46 additional cases of COVID-19 on Thursday.
31 of the new cases are workers in the agri-farm sector, seven are close contacts of community cases and eight are under investigation
Medical Officer of Health Dr. Wajid Ahmed is reminding the public to keep your 10 person social circle exclusive to the same 10 people.
The warning comes following the realization that people are getting more relaxed with the number of contacts they have.
"I think it's important to know that 10 people part of this social circle or close circle, they are all exclusive to this particular group only and not to other groups," says Dr. Ahmed. "It is in the best interest of everyone to ensure that our social circle continue to remain as tight and as close as possible."
He says if your social circle is not exclusive to the same 10 people, the virus could spread to another circle.
“In other jurisdiction as a result of a party, many, many people got infected so we definitely want people to remind that if you have more people in your close circle, the likelihood of someone is not following or if someone is sick, they can potentially infect the entire social circle," says Dr. Ahmed.
He says the seven community cases reported locally on Thursday are family members who were in close contact with a confirmed case.
"It is not unusual if in a large family, if someone gets infected then the rest of the family members, potentially are already exposed and there's a high probability that they will all come back positive," says Dr. Ahmed.
Five workplaces remain in outbreak; all are in Leamington and Kingsville — four in the agriculture sector and one in the manufacturing sector.
