There are 27 new cases of COVID-19 in Windsor-Essex.
The Windsor-Essex County Health Unit says 13 cases are community, eight are workers in the agri-farm sector, two are healthcare workers while four are still under investigation.
At his daily news briefing on Thursday, Medical Officer of Health Dr. Wajid Ahmed stressed the importance of wearing face coverings properly.
"When wearing first covering, it should cover the nose, mouth and chin at all times' says Dr. Ahmed. "We often see individual with covering only the mouth or under the chin."
Since the face covering was put in place, Dr. Ahmed says the health unit has been educating the public but moving forward, that will change.
"We haven't issued any fines but I think we're getting to the point of issuing for repeat complaints," he says. "We have done a lot of education and I think it's about time that we'll start to issue fines to get compliance from the operators," says Dr. Ahmed.
The local health unit's face covering order for Windsor-Essex went into effect on Friday June 26.
The order requires all owners or operators of a commercial establishment in Windsor-Essex to prohibit entry of any person who is not wearing a face covering.
There are currently outbreaks at 10 workplaces, eight of them are in the agriculture sector in Kingsville and Leamington, one in the manufacturing sector in Leamington and the other is in the manufacturing sector in Windsor.
