The local health unit is reporting one additional death in Windsor-Essex related to COVID-19.
Medical Officer of Health Dr. Wajid Ahmed says a man was sent to the hospital in mid-July
"It's a man in his 70s and died because of complications associated with respiratory failure and was admitted in ICU," says Dr. Ahmed.
He says the man was considered a community case.
"What we know, this person was admitted sometime in the middle of July that person was admitted to the hospital and then was later transferred to ICU and unfortunately died of COVID related complications,” said Dr Ahmed. "He also had many under lining health concerns as well."
A total of 70 people have now died in Windsor-Essex because of the virus.
The local health unit is also reporting an additional 24 new cases of COVID-19, for a total of 2,245.
Of the new cases, 11 are in the agri-farm sector, nine are community spread while four remain under investigation.
