Windsor Lancer women's soccer head coach Daniel Mendonca is thrilled to announce his recruiting class for the 2020 season.
Joining the Lancers this fall are local athletes Emma Beaulieu and Andrea Rivait, as well as out of town recruits Alicia Nikolasevic, Brooke MacLeod, and Marissa Lefebvre.
Mendonca said "I am excited about the group of young athletes joining our squad this fall. In both the defensive and attacking side of the game, our Fall 2020 class provides is a group of athletes who can grow into impactful roles on the field during their Lancer career." "A well-balanced group with a combination of pace, leadership, aggressiveness and technical skill, is sure to help strengthen our roster all over the field. Most of all, off the field, our staff excited about the young women we have entering our team culture."
From Essex, Beaulieu spent her youth career with National Canada and Eastside Kickers. During her time at EDHS, Emma was an honour roll student in the classroom and a county/city all-star on the pitch. Currently a member of the Tecumseh Soccer Club U21 program, Emma is a dynamic midfielder with an attacking mindset.
A native of Chatham, and Ursuline College High School, MacLeod spent her youth soccer career with the Chatham Strikers and Eastside Kickers where she was a dominant defender and a leader for her team. An honor roll student in the classroom, Brooke also received Female Athlete of the Year honours in 2019 at Ursuline College and continues to achieve success on and off the field.
MacLeod is looking forward to continuing her playing career with the blue and gold. "Playing soccer at the post-secondary level has always been my goal and I'm excited to have this opportunity with the Windsor Lancers."
From Belle River High School, Rivait is an attacking player, with natural leadership abilities. A consistent achiever of the honour roll and principles list her entire high school career. Andrea is a fantastic addition to the Lancer culture, on the field, in the classroom and around her teammates.
Rivait will study kinesiology in the fall. "I'm so excited to become a Lancer. The University of Windsor was my top choice because of the Human Kinetics program," she said. "I am looking forward to joining an amazing group of players and coaches as well as playing at home in front of my family and friends."
