United Way hopes to raise more money in this years fundraiser

The United Way of Windsor Essex is moving the bar for this year's fundraising campaign.

At the campaign kickoff today at the Serbian Centre the goal has been set at $5.35-million, up from the $5.2-million last year.

Unifor Local 2458 has been named the lead sponsor for this year's campaign.

Executive Director Lorraine Goddard says the money will go to those in the community that need it the most.

"You will be able to help us to move towards that vision to really addressing poverty and giving kids who need an extra hand to get to the finish line, and really focus our efforts to get to that area."

Goddard is confident the Windsor Essex area will make sure the goal is reached.

She says none of this would be possible without the volunteers.

There will be a kickoff for the campaign in Essex County at Sprucewood Shores Estate Winery October 2, 2018.
