Unifor thanked women across Windsor-Essex at its Southwestern Women's Network event Friday evening.
The event featured music, prizes and a dinner to celebrate the work women do in the community.
All women from the region were invited to attend, including business owners, politicians and those in a variety of occupations.
The event's co-organizer, Terry Weymouth, says it is an opportunity for people to acknowledge the several contributions women make to their communities.
She says it is important for everyone to recognize the work women do across the country.
"We celebrate all the women in Southwestern Ontario for all their activism and advocating for all the issues, nothing defined," says Weymouth. "This is our way of saying thanks. This is coordinated by Unifor sisters but it is for all women in Southwestern Ontario."
Weymouth says the event is one of a kind.
"So it is really about a community outreach," says Weymouth. "I do not believe there is another event like this. It is not a charity event. It is really about saying look we appreciate everything you have done."
She says the networking night draws in more women every year.
"It is becoming a huge success,"says Weymouth. We started off three-years-ago and we had around 54 people attend. This year we sold 212 tickets, we are at maximum capacity and we were sold out two weeks ago."
The event was also held as an early celebration of International Women's Day, which takes place March 8.
