The incoming president of Unifor Local 444 will be meeting with union representatives Tuesday to find ways of ending the strike at Caesars Windsor.
Dave Cassidy told AM800's "The Morning Drive" he will reach out to the casino, the provincial conciliator, Minister of Labour Kevin Flynn and the Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation to revive contract talks.
The 2,100 members have been on strike for 46 days, the longest labour dispute in the casino's history.
Cassidy says the rejection of a second tentative agreement on Friday was shocking, but he will try again to reach a collective agreement.
"I'm going to reach out to the government, the mayor has contacted me to see if there's anything he can facilitate. I will obviously be reaching out to the conciliator and the company and trying to get them back to the table."
He says he will continue to try and address the key issues.
"Let's not kid anybody it is about the money. There's money that needs to be put on the table there and respect and outsourcing, you'll hear from people about the outsourcing that is a big issue. People want the job security and what that means to them."
The latest tentative deal was rejected by 52.8%.
Caesars Windsor President Kevin Laforet called it unfortunate and says the long term effect on business goes well beyond revenue loss and is immeasurable.
