"Unfortunate."
That's how Unifor Local 444 President James Stewart is describing the pending layoffs at Caesars Windsor.
As heard on AM800 news on Wednesday, the casino announced the immediate closure of The Artist Cafe.
Stewart says the immediate impact will be around 96 workers but there will be bumping and transfers per the collective agreement.
He calls the closure disappointing.
"I think all the leadership is upset," says Stewart. "The Artist was a great outlet at the casino. It provided good food, great service. Our staff there does a tremendous job so obviously we're upset with the announcement."
Caesars also announced a multi-million dollar investment in its hotel.
Starting early next year, all 389 rooms in the Forum Tower will be remodelled.
