Unifor Local 444 is donating $75,000 to St. Clair College to boost their Skilled Trades program.
As part of the presentation, a huge Local 444 shield has been unveiled in the Sportsplex on campus.
The partnership involves more than just the money, a partnership to improve skilled trades education is ongoing.
College President Patti France hopes this helps change the perception of skilled trades.

"if we can all unite and collaborate and solidify those efforts, it will be much better for Windsor-Essex" according to France. "Hopefully today will also create an awareness for youth in our community that there are really lucrative jobs and career opportunities for our youth and to go for them"
France says the training is needed to fill an ever growing skills gap with baby boomers retiring and new job openings with the growing trades industry.
Local 444 President Dino Chiodo says they want to participate in improving skilled trades education in Windsor.

"What better way than to promote to Windsor and Essex County St. Clair College has the ability to do that." Chiodo says: "They have the education and training staff to provide people the opportunity to find gainful employment and have a great lifestyle and we want ot be a part of that"
Chiodo says the local has a staff member who co-ordinates the need for skilled trades and apprentices with the college and various companies.
