There will be a change at the top at Unifor Local 200.
Chris Taylor was approached by the national union to be a service rep out of the Windsor area and he has accepted the position which means he will not seek re-election as president this year.
"I love the job that I'm doing but it is time to move on," says Taylor. "It is another portion of my career that has been made available to me so I'm going to take advantage of it."
"It is going to mean I have a lot more bargaining to do. They are giving me a bunch of units that I will be taking care. I will still be connected to Local 200 but I will not be directly tied in with Ford."
Taylor says he is leaving the local in a good position following the 2016 bargaining.
He took over the local in 2011 and says the past set of negotiations with Ford of Canada was a highlight in his career as president.
The local is currently going through the nomination process to find a new president.
