Unifor members nationwide have voted 58 per cent in favour of a four-year deal with Ford.
In Windsor, where more than $600 million of the new investment will go, Unifor Local 200 members voted 88.7 per cent in favour.
According to the Unifor bargaining report, the Ford Windsor site will become the sole global manufacturing source of a new seven-litre engine program.
The seven-litre engine will support multiple vehicle name plates and will have enhanced fuel economy with reduced emissions.
The engine is scheduled to be produced in high volume by 2020.
The Essex engine plant will still keep its five-litre engine program and Windsor will maintain its 6.8-litre engine program.
President of Unifor Local 200, Chris Taylor, says new jobs will be created as a result of the new engine program.
"This collective agreement is going to give a future to our Windsor operations and give laid-off workers a chance to get back as well as provide job opportunities to future generations," says Taylor.
Ford employees will receive a lump sum bonus of $2,000 each year from 2017 - 2019, along with getting enhanced coverage in health and insurance benefits.
Base wage rates will also increase by two per-cent this year and by another two per-cent in 2019.
As well, a $6,000 productivity and quality bonus will be given to those who have been with the company since January 4, 2016.
"I can say on behalf of our bargaining committees that we are very grateful to Ford with all they have done for our members here," says Taylor. "This is what we needed."
Overall, Unifor says they have secured $713 million in investment commitments and 500 jobs from Ford nationwide.
