More coats for kids are needed.
The annual campaign officially began September 1 but the Unemployed Help Centre of Windsor has only reached 25% of its goal with 1,500 coats collected so far.
“There’s already a chill in the air at this point in the season and we need hit our goal so that local children will be warm through the winter,” said June Muir, CEO of the Unemployed Help Centre. “No child should be without a coat in cold weather — it’s a basic necessity and we're happy to be able to do our part in providing it.”
New and gently used children and adult coats are being collected ahead of distribution which begins November 10th.
The goal is to collect 6,000 coats by the end of October.
Coats can be dropped off at the Unemployed Help Centre’s Windsor offices, located at 6955 Cantelon Dr., until October 31.
This year there is a particular need for boys’ and girls’ coats sizes 9/10, 11/12 and 13/14 as well as children’s and adult gloves.
