Dustin Poirier, the interim lightweight division champion in the UFC will be a guest instructor this Saturday at Hybrid Training Academy in Lakeshore.
The 30 year old champ, who owns a (25-5-1) record inside the Octogon will hold a training session and meet-and-greet with fans seeking photos and autographs.
The owner and head instructor at the Hybrid Academy, Jeff Robert tells AM800 Sports proceeds from the event will go toward the Fight Like Mason Foundation.
"Obviously it's a concern to all of us with children dealing with cancer, to that seemed like a great charity to choose and that's what we're focusing a lot of our attention towards."
Robert says this is a great chance for local MMA enthusiasts to meet and train with a UFC Champion.
"We have a lot of different schools and schools that compete in mixed martial arts so it's a great opportunity for those fighters to come to the location and meet Dustin, and train with Dustin for a couple of hours," adds Robert.
Fans have several options, as there'll be a training session between 2 p.m. and 4 p.m., with a meet-and-greet to follow.
There will also be a separate dinning event at Boston Pizza in Tecumseh starting at 8 p.m.
Poirier is set to fight unbeaten Khabib Nurmagomedov for the championship in Abu Dhabi, September 7.
