A report in the Wall Street Journal says the U.S. is backing down on an idea to post U.S. troops at the Canadian border.
U.S President Donald Trump said he would like to put troops along the border but Canadian officials immediately voiced their opposition to the idea.
Trump said on Thursday there was a lot of 'illegal trade' coming in from Canada.
Deputy Prime Minister Chrystia Freeland said it would be an 'unnecessary step.'
The U.S. and Canada have the longest non-militarized border in the world.
