Two Windsor soldiers are being honoured with Medals of Bravery in a ceremony Thursday in Ottawa.
Private Matthew Thomas Lepain and Corporate Alexander Zawyrucha helped a woman involved in a car accident in Windsor in August 2015.
They witnessed the crash and both men steadied the vehicle which was leaking gasoline and had started to roll backwards.
Private Lepain tried to pull the woman out of the vehicle but she was entangled in her seatbelt.
Corporal Zawyrucha reached in to help and Lepain then noticed a fire under the hood of the car which threatened to light the gasoline that had spread under their feet.
They managed to pull the victim out of the car just as the vehicle became engulfed in flames.
Governor General of Canada, the Right Honourable Julie Payette will present the men with the medals at Rideau Hall.
