Two men have been arrested and charged after police interrupted their armed break-in.
Shortly after 4 p.m. on Wednesday, August 19, Windsor police officers responded to a break-and-enter in progress at a house in the 800 block of Assumption Street.
Through investigation, police determined that two men had forced their way into the home while the two people were in the house.
One suspect had his face covered and was allegedly armed with a knife, while the other was armed with a sword.
Police say the suspects threatened the residents and ordered them to leave the house before throwing their personal belongings onto the front lawn.
One of the victims was able to call police and officers quickly attended the home, interrupted their break-in, and arrested both men. NO injuries were reported.
During a search, officers located a taser and a quantity of suspected methamphetamine.
Investigators believe this was a targeted incident.
A 51-year-old man has been charged with break-and-enter, assault with a weapon, wearing a disguise with intent to commit an indictable offence, and failure to comply with a probation order.
A 42-year-old man has been charged with break-and-enter, assault with a weapon, possession of a prohibited weapon, and possession of a Schedule I substance.
Residents in the area are being asked to review any available surveillance or dash-camera footage for video that may assist with the investigation.
