Windsor City Councillor Rino Bortolin says both Windsor Pride and Youssef's Hair Boutique are ready to get back to work.
Both were in need of a new home after being forced out of the Pelissier St. parking garage as part of a city council decision to eliminate retail space at the site and create more parking spaces.
Windsor Pride will set up in a temporary site at 1106 Ouellette Ave. thanks to a partnership with Hotel-Dieu Grace Healthcare.
Youssef's Hair Boutique has found a new home at 437 Ouellette Ave. near Park St.
Bortolin says having to move wasn't ideal for those involved but he's confident both the boutique and Windsor Pride are ready to move on. "They're a business, Windsor Pride is an organization, they have work to do, Youssef's got to get back to cutting hair to make money. So I think at the end of the day they just want to have all this behind them and be able to move forward."
"Youssef Gereige's new location should allow him to maintain a client base he's built over the past 28 years," says Bortolin. "Youssef as well is pushing hard. I don't think he's open yet, so I think he will have some downtime, but it's good to see that he was able to find a location in the downtown area to still facilitate the customers that he had."
Bortolin adds that sharing space with hospital administration should be a great networking opportunity for Windsor Pride.
