The Tigers were trounced by the Twins 15-8 in the first of a four-game series in Minnesota last night.

Starter Francisco Liriano was charged with the loss after giving up eight runs, but just four earned, in less than two innings.

Detroit got within one after scoring three times in the fourth inning and twice in the fifth, but Minnesota came back with a seven-run sixth to take the lead for good.

Nicholas Castellanos and Mikie Mahtook hit two-run homers and James McCann and Niko Goodrum hit solo shots.

Tonight, Matthew Boyd opposes Minnesota's Kyle Gibson.
