U.S. President Donald Trump is praising the NFL for its new policy banning kneeling during the national anthem.
Players are no longer allowed to sit or take a knee on the field during the anthem, but they are allowed to stay in the locker room.
Trump thinks the players should stand proudly for the anthem, saying any who don't should not be playing, or maybe they shouldn't be in the country.
Player protests started in 2016 when former San Francisco 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick began kneeling to highlight police brutality and racial injustice in the U.S..
Meantime, Golden State Warriors head coach Steve Kerr calls the new policy "idiotic."
Kerr says the NFL is trying to use the anthem as "fake patriotism, nationalism, scaring people."
While the NFL and its team owners are reportedly "terrified" of Trump, Kerr doesn't share that fear, slamming the league for bending to the president's will.
