The CEO of the Windsor Essex Economic Development Corporation is keeping a close eye on President-elect Donald Trump.
Stephen MacKenzie says the "Trump file" is the thickest file in his office.
MacKenzie has concerns with some of Trump's comments and believes some of his comments could have a potential threats on the region.
MacKenzie is monitoring the happenings in the US.
"We reach out to industry partners to ask if there's something on the auto industry so part of our retention expansion efforts always being out there saying what's going on, what are you hearing and how can we help," says MacKenzie.
The hope from MacKenzie is that Trump isn't as rash in his policy decision as he is with his rhetoric.
"I am optimistic although I'm a little concerned, I'm optimistic because he's a business man and if you take it, him at his word that he does not want to enact policies or take actions that harm US workers then many aspects of the auto industry that are here should be just fine," says MacKenzie.
MacKenzie says he'll continue to work with industry partners. He says WEEDC staff has met with international companies at the North American International Auto Show.
Trump has said he would add a border tax to US companies that leave the states and open new plants in other countries if products are shipped back to the US market.
