Martin Truex Jr Drives to a Nascar victory at Chicagoland Speedway

Martin Truex Jr. is the champion at the Tales of the Turtles 400 at Chicagoland Raceway.

Truex Jr. took the checkered flag more than seven seconds ahead of the field to win his second-straight at the track.

It was his fifth win of the season and gave him an automatic berth into the round-of-eight in the NASCAR playoffs.

Chase Elliott came in second to earn his best finish since June.  Kevin Harvick, Denny Hamlin and Kyle Larson rounded out the top five.

Josef Newgarden won his first IndyCar championship by closing out the best year of his career as the top driver at Team Penske. Newgarden turned in a nearly flawless performance at Sonoma Raceway to prevent anyone from taking the title away from him.

Penske driver Simon Pagenaud won the race, but Newgarden finished second to win the title by 17 points.
