A trucker is facing drunk driving charges after a roll-over accident on Hwy. 401.
Patrol officers were alerted to a tractor trailer that was driving erratically in the eastbound lane near Duart Rd. in Chatham-Kent around 9pm Thursday, according to OPP.
Emergency services had to help the driver out of the vehicle after the truck wound up on its side in a ditch — an open liquor bottle was also extracted from the cab of the truck.
He was taken to hospital to be treated for minor injuries where police say the driver showed signs he'd been drinking and a breath-test was performed.
Christopher Bird is charged with driving with more than 80mg of alcohol in blood, and driving a motor vehicle with open container of liquor.
The 26-year-old Scarborough native was released with a promise to appear in court.
