The Battle of the Brains has come up big for charity once again.
Trivia, food, drinks, and prizes are the theme of the 8th annual event, but the big winner of Saturday night's event is the Alzheimer's Society of Windsor and Essex County.
Manager of Community Engagement Peggy Winch tells AM800 News more than $42,000 was raised at the Ciociaro Club by a record number of teams.
"We have 146 tables with teams of eight, that's almost 1,200 people playing trivia," she says.
Winch says every dollar counts when it comes to helping people suffering from Alzheimer's and their families.
"We're looking at how we can expand those services. Our day programs, our respite care services, so this money will help us expand and provide services to our, unfortunately, growing community who needs them," says Winch

Winch says it means a lot the ASWEC to see so much support.
"It's really about having fun, who cares who wins at the end of the day? You're here for a charity, you're all champions," she says. "It's about having fun raising money for a great cause."
She says the event has raised more than $100,000 for Alzheimer's programs in Windsor-Essex over the years.
