A Windsor police staff sergeant has testified at a human rights tribunal about what she claims is the 'blue code of silence' at the Windsor Police Service.
Staff Sergeant Christine Bissonnette filed a complaint alleging she was overlooked for several promotions due to gender discrimination.
After filing the complaint to the Human Rights Tribunal of Ontario in 2015, she says she came in last for two promotions in 2015 and 2016.
She pointed out two men were promoted in 2015 and 'neither were more qualified.'
She told the tribunal she felt undermined and humiliated saying 'she felt vulnerable to the abuse of the males in power and had nowhere to turn to rectify the problem.'
She referred to it as a 'very poisoned environment.'
After the complaint, she says she was ostracized and there were character assassinations against her.
Tribunal Chair Bruce Best has asked Bissonnette to present evidence to support her arguments.
The hearing is scheduled for six more days, including some dates in 2019.
