A boost for Transit Windsor.
Transit is reporting a 2.58 percent ridership increase in 2016.
Executive Director Pat Delmore says a main reason for the jump was the introduction of the Upass which started in September of last year.
He says there will be a number of positive spinoffs from the increase.
"When we start to see more riders, that means more gas tax dollars will be provided to us in the future years so every ride makes a big difference and we'll be able to with the increase revenue, increase service, increase gas dollars provide a better service for the riders here in the City of Windsor," says Delmore.
Delmore says there were 6.5 million rides in 2016 compared to 6.3 million in 2015.
He hopes the increase continues in 2017.
