Transit Windsor is reviewing how it does business and is looking for some public input.
It has launched a yearlong service review called 'More Than Transit", which will look at what is happening now, identify gaps and challenges and ways to address any shortcomings.
A consultant began work back in June looking at ridership numbers and revenue.
As part of the process, it wants to get some public feedback and it is encouraging riders and non-riders to complete an online survey at www.morethantransit.ca.
"While this is about the transit system that we currently have, it is really more than transit," says Executive Director Pat Delmore. "It is about what our community has, what our community has to offer and how we get people to and from where they want to be and where they want to go."
It is asking for a 10% budget increase for 2019 stating rising fuel costs have left transit in a $600,000 deficit this year.
Delmore says more and more people are using transit
"Our ridership is up which is a great news story," he says. "We have seen large increases with the U pass which has been a very positive program over the last three years and we are hoping to make that a formal program next year and there have been a lot of things that have changed even in the past couple of years."
The survey is open until December 31st.
The last time there was a full comprehensive review was in 2007.
Transit Windsor operates 365 days a year, for about 21 hours a day, travelling over 4-million kilometres every year.
