Traffic is down at the Windsor Port Authority.
Authority President David Cree says the 15.49% drop last year compared to 2015 is mostly due to the nearly complete early work of the customs plaza for the new Gordie Howe International Bridge.
He says given that 2015 was one of the best years in the Port's history, a drop was expected.
"We have had some pretty good years with all the stone that was needed for the Parkway and then of course for the new truck plaza and what they call the early work on the truck plaza was completed in late 2015," says Cree.
Steel imports increased by 28% and grain and related products also increased by 24%.
Cree expects 2017 to be an average year with another boost expected next year with construction on the new bridge.
Other milestones in 2016 included work of the park and fishing pier at the end of Mill St, purchasing green space near the Port Authority's offices and a partnership with Windsor Police for a new 25-foot boat to improve marine patrol on the Detroit River.
