An investigation is underway after a tractor trailer caught fire on Highway 401 in Lakeshore early Friday morning.
Provincial police say crews responded to a motor vehicle fire around 12:30am in the westbound lanes of the 401 near Highway 77.
According to police, the driver was the only occupant and was taken to hospital for non-life threatening injuries related to smoke inhalation.
Police say there was a partial closure of the westbound lanes for about four hours.
The highway has since reopened.
The OPP, Essex-Windsor EMS and Lakeshore Fire Department all responded.
