Residents of Essex will get a chance to comment on policing in the town.
The OPP provides policing and the town has some oversight through a police services board.
Councillor Kim Verbeek, who's also a member of the Police Services Board, put forward a motion passed by council.

She says there are a couple of options being considered for the outreach.
"A motion that we proceed with a survey or possibly later a Town Hall outreach with the community on our police services" explains Verbeek.
Verbeek says the provincial police board association has been suggesting this.
"The OAPSB has been advising us to do this for a long time" says Verbeek. "And we have to do a community wellness plan, mandated by the province, and this information would be very helpful in forming that."
She says residents have been asking to have a say in policing.
"I'm hearing that the public would like a little more communication, that's all" says Verbeek. "And since my short term on council, I've been hearing from people, they just want to be heard and this is a great tool to allow them to have some input."
Verbeek says staff is going to develop a survey which will be reviewed by council.
She hopes the questions allow for comment and not just a "yes"or "no" answer.
There's no timeline for when this will go to the public.
