Property taxes are going up in the town of Essex.
Town council adopted the 2017 budget in principle earlier this week which includes a 2.36% property tax increase which amounts to about a $28 impact to a home assessed at $160,000.
There will be a further increase of about $15 for some urban residents to cover a funding gap for storm water infrastructure.
The proposed budget sees $7.1-million in infrastructure projects, partially funded through reserves.
"The budget continues to support Council's strategic objective to manage the town's infrastructure in a responsible and efficient manner," says Director of Corporate Services Donna Hunter.
