Leamington Town Council will be looking to give its uptown core some tender loving care.
Town council will review its Uptown Master Plan Monday night and give it the 'stamp of approval' which includes several infrastructure projects designed to spruce up the town's core and make it a more 'walkable community.
The $7.4-million plan will widen or replace sidewalks, replace streetlights, install bike lanes, landscaping and general beautification along Mill St. W, Queens Ave, Talbot St, Erie St, Fox St and Victoria St. to name a few.
Mayor John Paterson says there were many public meetings and input from property owners.
"The uptown of Leamington is the heart of our community and our heart is ailing, it really does need some tender, love and care from the municipality," he says.
"I think overall our effort at the council level was to make this a more pedestrian friendly area. If there was a theme, that was probably it."
Paterson believes it will take at least five years to complete the plan.
He hopes the infrastructure investment will spur reinvestment from small businesses and property owners to clean up or enhance their property too.
