A small business owner in Windsor-Essex is trying to stay positive.
Ayad Saddy is owner of BB Branded at Devonshire Mall.
He tells AM800 News, he made the difficult decision to close his store on Wednesday while the rest of the mall was still open.
Saddy says luckily he does online sales, but his business has been impacted by the coronvavirus.
"These are difficult times," says Saddy. "We still want to serve the people of Windsor with obviously different ways. Luckily we're grateful to have the website still going and shipping still going."
He says he has put safety measures in place for his online staff.
"We've taken different methods and also we're taking safety precautions, wearing gloves, handling merchandise and no one in the store other than the online team," says Saddy.
Saddy says it was tough letting his eight in-store staff members know about the closure.
"It wasn't an easy one at all," says Saddy. "We're still waiting on the government to see exactly what we can do to take care of our BB Branded family, all the staff that's been working with us but we're not letting anyone go, that's for sure."
BB Branded has reduced shipping fees as an incentive for customers to make online orders.
Both Devonshire and Tecumseh Mall are now closed after the city declared a state of emergency Friday.
