A Toronto man has been arrested following an armed robbery at a Windsor pharmacy.
Police were called Monday at 4:45pm to the Shoppers Drug Mart on Wyandotte St West at Campbell.
A suspect entered the store and went directly to the pharmacy counter. He held a knife, entered the employee area, announced the robbery and demanded narcotics.
Employees complied. The suspect held an employee at knifepoint to shield himself as he approached the exit.
No one was hurt.
As he fled, an employee followed the suspect at a safe distance and called police.
The suspect was arrested in the area of Bridge Ave near College.
61-year-old Gilles Plourde is charged with robbery, assault with a weapon, possession of a weapon for the purpose of committing an offence, possession of stolen property and taking a person hostage.
