Starting pitcher Drew VerHagen was touched for 10 hits and four runs in less than five innings as the Tigers lost 6-1 to the Angels in Anaheim Tuesday night.
Catcher Jake Rogers had two hits and drove in the Tigers' lone run in his big league debut.
Rogers is the first prospect from the Justin Verlander trade with Houston to reach the major leagues. He called Casey Mize's no-hitter at Double-A Erie in April and was promoted to Triple-A Toledo in May.
Detroit has dropped seven of its last eight games.
