Matthew Boyd took a no-hit bid into the sixth inning as Detroit hung on to beat the Minnesota Twins 2-1 at Comerica Park. Boyd got the win after surrendering just one hit while striking out six in six scoreless innings.
James McCann provided all the offense Detroit needed with a two-run home run in the fifth inning.
With the homer, McCann is the first catcher in Tigers history to hit three homers in the first seven games of the season.
This afternoon, the Tigers send Michael Fulmer to the mound, while the Twins counter with Kyle Gibson.
