Tigers Prepare for Home Opener

Spencer Turnbull gets the start for the Tigers in their home opener against K.C.

Detroit hosts Kansas City in the home opener Thursday at Comerica Park.  Spencer Turnbull gets the start for the Tigers, while the Royals counter with Jakob Junis.

Everyone headed to Comerica Park for the home opener needs to remember to bring their smartphone.

The team is switching to digital tickets through the MLB At Bat app this season.

First pitch is set for 1:10 p.m., and the game against the Royals is expected to be sold out.  

Wednesday night Gordon Beckham hit a solo homer in the eighth inning to break a 1-all tie to lead the Tigers to a 2-1 win over the Yankees in the Bronx.

Matthew Boyd stuck out a MLB career-high 13 while allowing just one run over six-and-a-third innings.

Buck Farmer got the win and Shane Greene his fourth save as Detroit took two-of-three.
