The Rays trim the Tigers 109 in extra innings

Despite erasing an early five-run deficit, the Tigers lost to the Tampa Bay Rays 10-9 in ten innings on the road last night.

Starter Francisco Liriano did not figure in the decision after he gave up seven runs on eight hits while striking out three in two and one third innings.

Reliever Blaine Hardy was charged with the loss after surrendering the winning run in the tenth.

Niko Goodrum had three RBI while Victor Martinez and Jose Iglesias each knocked in two runs.

In tonight's second game of the three game set, Matthew Boyd goes to the mound for Detroit.
